Alweer regen

Personages:
Alex, Nora, Mila, buurman Henk

„Alweer regen!” zegt Mila.

„Kijk!” roept Mila. „Een regenboog!” Thuis hangen ze de natte jassen op. Mila zegt: „Volgende zondag gaan we weer. Ook als het regent.”

It's Sunday. Alex, Nora and Mila want to have a picnic in the park. Nora makes sandwiches and Mila packs a big blanket. But when they look outside, it's raining.

“Rain again!” says Mila. “Now we can't go to the park.” She is cross and sits down on the sofa.

Then the neighbour rings the doorbell. His name is Henk and he is seventy-two. He's wearing a raincoat and boots. “Aren't you going out?” he asks. “It's raining,” says Alex. Henk laughs. “In the Netherlands we say: there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”

Half an hour later they cycle to the park, all three in raincoats. The park is quiet. Mila jumps in every puddle. They eat the sandwiches under a big tree.

At three o'clock the rain stops. The sun comes through the clouds. “Look!” shouts Mila. “A rainbow!” At home they hang up the wet coats. Mila says: “Next Sunday we'll go again. Even if it rains.”
