In November there are ten-minute parent meetings at the primary school. Alex and Nora go together to see Mila's teacher. Mila is in group 5.

The teacher shows the school report. 'Mila is making a lot of progress. She has a good mark for maths, and her attitude to work is good.'

'Only reading comprehension is still hard for her. That's normal: she speaks another language at home.' 'What can we do at home?' asks Nora. 'Read together, a quarter of an hour every day.'

By the door hang the holiday timetable and a note about the parental contribution: 50 euros for the school trip and the parties.

The schooladvies determines which secondary school a child will attend. It is given by the teacher based on all previous years; the test is just a check. Parents can discuss it at an oudergesprek.
