Alex koopt een fiets

Personages:
Alex, collega Bas, de verkoper

Alex woont nu drie maanden in Nederland.

Alex has been living in the Netherlands for three months now. He doesn't have a bike yet. Every day he walks twenty minutes to the station. “You really need a bike,” says his colleague Bas.

On Saturday Alex goes to a bike shop in the centre. There are lots and lots of bikes: red ones, black ones, new ones and old ones. A new bike costs eight hundred euros. “That's too expensive,” Alex thinks.

The salesman has an idea. “Look, this bike is second-hand. It's five years old, but still very good. It costs a hundred and fifty euros.” Alex tries the bike and rides a lap. The bike is black and a bit old, but it rides well.

“I'll take it,” says Alex. “Do you have a lock too?” “Of course,” says the salesman. “Better take two. A lot of bikes disappear here.”

On Monday Alex cycles to the station. It only takes six minutes! He puts the bike in the big bicycle parking. In the evening he spends ten minutes looking for his bike: almost all the bikes are black. Tomorrow he'll buy a bright yellow bell.
