Discussie op het werk

Workplace dispute

B1 · Intermediate · ≈ 21 min

The hardest thing when several people are talking is to understand who agrees with what. Here, three people are discussing switching to a four-day week: one is for it, one is against it, and the third is hesitant. Listen not for the arguments, but for their positions.

  1. What are they proposing to introduce?
  2. Who is for it and what is their argument?
  3. Who is against it and why?
  4. How did the conversation end?

Daar heb je een punt — a very Dutch reaction: acknowledging someone else's argument aloud doesn't mean losing the debate. On the contrary, without it, the conversation is considered unconstructive.
