Idioms are what make a language sound authentic. Not archaic proverbs from a dictionary, but what people actually say: dat valt mee, het zit wel goed, even kijken, dat is een dingetje. Here you'll find only living language, organised by situation.

Monday morning at the office. It's pouring with rain and Alex comes in soaked. 'Real dog weather, eh?' says his colleague Bas.

At the meeting the manager gets straight to the point: the project has to be finished a week earlier. Alex is alarmed. He doesn't know the first thing about the new software yet.

But Bas is a real fixer. 'It'll be fine,' he says. 'Let's see which way the wind blows first.'

By the end of the day it turns out better than expected: the deadline is doable. Only nobody understands the client's planning. 'I can't make head or tail of it,' says Bas. 'But that's not my department. We'll see.'
