On the local news site Alex read a headline: 'Bridge closed after collision'. He read on. According to a spokesperson for the municipality, the bridge will stay closed for three weeks.

The local residents are angry, because the detour is long. There's a lot of criticism of the municipality. As a measure there's a shuttle bus, and the council wants talks with the province.

A day later someone shared a different message in the neighbourhood app: the bridge would supposedly stay closed for a year and the costs would rise to ten million. No source was given. Alex looked it up: the municipality didn't confirm it. The message was misleading.

On the course Alex had to summarise the news. The teacher said: 'Pay attention to the difference between a fact and an opinion. "The bridge is closed for three weeks" is a fact. "The municipality is doing a bad job" is an opinion.'
