Teamvergadering met conflict

A meeting dispute

B2 · Upper intermediate · ≈ 23 min

The most difficult thing about this recording is not the words, but the speed at which speakers change. Positions shift as the conversation progresses: someone initially objects, then joins in. Don't listen to individual remarks, but follow each participant's line of argument.

  • Question 1: Why does Sanne want to postpone the deadline?
  • Question 2: What objection does Karim raise?
  • Question 3: At what point does Karim partially agree?
  • Question 4: What decision does Hanneke make and what does she assign?

How positions shifted

Who said what
WhoAt the startAt the end
Sannepostpone the deadline: no people, tests not startedagrees to phased delivery with written client consent
Karimnot to postpone: already asked for an extensionsuggests phased delivery and takes on the call
Hannekeraises the question and asks for clarificationmakes a decision and sets a checkpoint

The turning point occurs in Karim's remark “Dat ben ik met je eens, alleen…”: he acknowledges the argument and immediately proposes a third way. This is a typical pattern in Dutch meetings.
