Een klacht over geluid

Talking about noise

A2 · Elementary · ≈ 17 min

Complaining to neighbours is a genre with its own rules. Here, people don't raise their voices or make demands: they start with an apology, state the facts, and suggest a solution. Hearing this intonation is more important than learning the words.

  1. What is the neighbour complaining about?
  2. When exactly is it bothersome?
  3. What do they suggest?
  4. How does the conversation end?

Nogal — quite, rather is an important word in a complaint: it softens it. Nogal veel muziek sounds softer than heel veel muziek, although it means almost the same.
