Bij de tandarts

At the dentist’s

A2 · Elementary · ≈ 17 min

It’s especially difficult to listen at the dentist’s: you’re half-lying down, and the doctor speaks while looking away. But the range of phrases is narrow — here it all is, including the patient’s main question: Doet het pijn?

  1. Which tooth is bothering you?
  2. What causes the pain?
  3. What will the doctor do today?
  4. When should I come again?

Een gaatje literally means “a little hole”, and this is what the Dutch call a cavity. It sounds homely, but means exactly the same thing.
